Joey's Obituary

Joseph D. O'Brien III

BLOOMINGTON -- Joseph D. O'Brien, III, 28, Bloomington, formerly of Peoria, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 14, 2008) at his home.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington, with the Rev. Gerald T. Ward and the Rev. Thomas Shea officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Merna. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with a family rosary service at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vincent Erato Foundation (supporting children's charities) 12770 W. Coldspring Road, New Berlin, Wis. 53151.

Joseph was born May 5, 1979, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Joseph D. and Marian Erato O'Brien, Jr.

He is survived by one daughter, Sophia Grace O'Brien, Oglesby; one son, Joseph D. O'Brien IV, Hopedale; his father, Joseph D. (Patrice) O'Brien Jr., Baton Rouge, La.; his mother, Marian (Lou) Frigo, Brookfield, Wis.; three sisters, Maggie O'Brien, Brookfield, Wis., Kelli (Thomas) Moorhead, Lake Forest, and Erin O'Brien, Chicago; stepsister, Brooke, and stepbrother, Trey Watson. Baton Rouge, La.; maternal grandparents, Angelo and Grace Erato, Milwaukee, Wis.; and paternal grandparents, Joseph D. and Muriel O'Brien, Ottawa; dear friends and the mother of Joseph D. O'Brien IV, Nellie (Mark) Grinn, and their son, Caelin, Hopedale.

He was preceded in death by one son, Keaton Thomas Whalen.

Joseph attended Central Catholic High School, Heartland Community College and Loyola University. Joe worked with his father in the O'Brien Automotive Team in Central Illinois in various positions.
